Eco Council

June 2022

The children have recently been invited to put themselves forward to be representatives on the new ECO Schools committee. The children presented their application forms to their own classes. Each class then voted on who they would like to put forward. Here are the results…

Owls: Rhys, Tallulah and Evie

Buzzards: Piper, Ollie and Jessie

Herons: Jemima, Samuel and Sophia

Kestrels: Evelyn, Harry B and Jude

Woodpeckers: Zoe, Harry and Noah

We were so proud of the school council this week. They confidently led an assembly about opportunities to reduce waste and recycle more within our school. They discussed the school council exchange visit and our visit from Carymoor Recycling Centre. From this assembly, the school council will;
-purchase litter pickers for our playground
-start a collection of Eco-bricks, to help Mrs Hawthorne to build a garden wall
-contact Cool Milk to reduce milk carton waste
-help Heron class to collect milk bottle tops
-encourage children to bring in a healthy snack, to reduce waste
-collect batteries and felt pens for recycling

The Eco Warriors challenged the children across the school to make a poster to highlight the main areas of the Eco School project:

Thank you for all your hard work.

The winning posters are here and copies will soon be seen around the school.
