Christian Distinctiveness

We create a love of learning where everyone is respected and encouraged to reach their full potential.

To bring our school vision to life, we have six Christian values that guide our school culture and ethos.

A Value is a principle that guides our thinking and our behaviour. At Mark First School, every individual is valued for who they are and what they contribute to the school. Values are intended to support the personal, social and spiritual development of every pupil throughout the school.

As we learn about each value, we consider what it is, how we can demonstrate this quality and the difference it can make to how we live our lives.

Church Links

We are very proud of the links we have with our local Church, Holy Cross and the fact that it began the history of our school back in 1835. Rev Chris regularly visits our school to lead Collective Worship and we hold our Nativity and Summer Performances in the Church itself. Many of our families attend the monthly service held at the church and we recently held a competition that was a trail at the church for Inter-Faith week.

Reflection

We offer as many opportunities as we can during the school day for times of thought and reflection. This is an important part of our daily Collective Worship, as well as areas within classrooms and outside where prayers can be said and thinking can take place. We are excited about the future plans that the Eco Warriors from last year suggested to offer even more places on our field for reflection with a maze, benches and bird tables among the ideas.
