Morning Maths Challenge

We have been busy making circuits in Science!

We have been busy getting ready for the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch by creating some yummy bird feeders. We braved the cold and enjoyed deciding where to hang them. We were delighted to see a curious robin (who had been keeping an eye on us all morning) have a nibble on one of our feeders!

Our topic this Spring term is 'The Ancient Egyptians'. Please find the Topic Leaflet outlining what we will be learning about along with our homework menu for the term.

Our World War Two Day!

Making World War 2 Gas Masks

Baking Carrot Cookies

Poppy Artwork

As part of InterFaith Week, the children have been learning how to create beautiful Rangoli patterns using sand. We soon realised how much patience this task required! Well done Kestrels.

In Music we have been thinking about how to create a repeating rhythm. The children were asked to create a pattern using only three notes - well done Kestrels!

Today Kestrel Class had a lovely time in the Outdoor Classroom creating firework pictures using natural resources. We also made set up a bonfire and the children had a lovely, safe time toasting their own marshmallows.

Spitfires! We have begun making our Spitfire aircraft models using papier mache. The children have worked brilliantly to create these, well done Kestrels!

In Science we have been exploring what colour light is. To do this we created 'Whizzer Wheels' to show that colour is made up of 7 colours.

We have been very busy in Maths using concrete resources (dienes and place value counters) to help us understand how to show our understanding of place value as well as learning how to add and subtract numbers using the written column method. We have enjoyed using the tables to spread out and show our mathematical understanding.

Walter Tull Portraits - Using their knowledge from last session, the children have drawn portraits of Walter Tull. Aren't they amazing!

The children have been learning how to create detailed self-portraits. They were given half of their face and their challenge was to draw the other half. Well done Kestrels - what super artists you are!

Our topic this Autumn term is 'The World Wars'. Please find the Topic Leaflet outlining what we will be learning about along with our homework menu for the term.
